Drambuie unmasks its new bottle for the anniversary of 100 years in production. The new celebratory, clear bottle is taller and thinner for easy pouring. Drambuie fashioned the bottle to represent a more elegant 21st Century style.  Also released is the new icon of the interlocking “DD” with dueling swords as a remembrance of Bonnie Prince Charlie and his escape to the Scottish Highlands after a failed attempt of overthrowing the king. The icon is encompassed with four diamonds to portray the four values that motivated Prince Charlie, risk, rebellion, passion and mystery.

Drambuie Warriors Edge Out Strong Dutch and Brazilian Teams to Emerge Victorious in 2009 Drambuie Pursuit

Fellow Drambuie revelers compete against celebrities and a diverse field of international teams

INVERNESS, Scotland (May 10, 2009) – Four friends hailing from four different cities in Germany utilized a combination of physical fortitude and old-fashioned teamwork to finish first in a field of 13 international teams at the 2009 Drambuie Pursuit.

The fourth annual Drambuie Pursuit tested the stamina of the four-person teams as they competed in events as diverse as white-water rafting, mountain biking, buggy racing and archery. Martin Kern, Marcus Stolla and Stefan Olszok signed up for the event at the prompting of team captain Eike Sack and became known as the Drambuie Warriors.

Although the Pursuit wasn’t their first adventure together, the Drambuie Warriors were hooked after watching footage from last year’s event.

“We actually looked at videos online, and it looked pretty challenging,” Kern said. “I saw a lot of very exhausted people on the videos, but it looked exciting so we decided to sign up.”

Unlike some of the teams, the Warriors gained strength and momentum as they neared the finish line. Facing stiff competition from a Dutch team that worked extensively with personal trainers prior to the event and a Brazilian team that stayed in the top rankings, the German team rose to fourth after the hill climb. After moving up to second place during the white-water rafting challenge, the Warriors crossed the finish line in historic Inverness well ahead of their competition.

The Pursuit welcomed a total of 13 teams – six American, two Canadian, two German, one Dutch, one Russian and one Brazilian – to recreate the legendary flight of Bonnie Prince Charlie from the Battle of Culloden in 1745. Drambuie, a Scottish liqueur and the namesake of the Drambuie Pursuit, was created from a recipe the Prince used to sustain himself on his flight from the English. The prized elixir was handed down over generations and continues to serve as a refreshing reminder of Scottish lore.

The Drambuie Warriors credit their victory to a simple formula of dogged determination and strong teamwork.

“We didn’t expect it to be that demanding,” Olszok said. “We thought the Brazilians were up-front and the Dutch guys were really strong, but I guess our team had the strongest team effort … and that’s why we won.”

Among the teams they beat were a foursome led by film and television actor Seann William Scott and another anchored by Cabral “Cabbie” Richards, a Canadian sports television personality.
